Handmade soap is formed by using natural oils and lye. It is basically the result of the saponification reaction of grease and alkali. It can be used for cleaning after solidification. Commonly used oils include olive oil, palm oil, and coconut oil. Lye is usually an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide. Handmade soaps can also be added with various additives according to personal preferences and purposes, such as: milk, breast milk, soy milk, essential oils, flavors, flowers, dyes, etc.
